Vein consultation - Diagnosis of varicose veins
Varicose veins are the result of an excessive widening of the veins in the legs due to a weakness in the valves. They usually develop as a result of a genetic predisposition, a lack of exercise or hormonal influences. This leads to a reduced blood flow from the legs towards the heart and thus to a widening of the veins in the legs.
A venous insufficiency is characterized by swelling in the legs, calf cramps, a brownish discoloration of the skin and a feeling of heavy legs. In the worst case, it can lead to open legs. Therefore, early diagnosis and therapy are extremely important.
Using Doppler and color-coded duplex sonography (ultrasound), we can examine your leg veins in detail and thus detect any venous insufficiency at an early stage.
